Shenzhen International Quantum Academy Conducts 2025 New Employee Training
December 24, 2025

To help the 2025 new employees fully understand the Shenzhen International Quantum Academy(IQASZ)'s development history, strategic positioning, core values, and cultural concepts, as well as to familiarize them with and master the relevant procedures and systems of the IQASZ, assist them in quickly integrating into the work environment, clarify their own responsibilities, improve work efficiency, and further enhance their sense of belonging and collective honor. On December 17th, the Human Office of the IQASZ organized a one-day new employee training, with approximately 60 employees participating. Dean Dapeng Yu, Executive Vice President Zhiqiang Bai attended the training meeting and gave special lectures, laying a solid foundation for the new employees to embark on their scientific research exploration journey at the Academy.

The first stop of the training was the exhibition hall of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone. Through the visit, the new employees gained an intuitive and in-depth understanding of the Hetao Cooperation Zone's strategic positioning as a core platform for scientific and technological innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, its construction progress, and development pattern. A series of robust talent policies, industrial policies, and tax policies also filled the new employees with confidence that the National Quantum Laboratory will take root, grow, and continuously receive government support in the fertile ground of Hetao, further strengthening their determination to engage in scientific and technological innovation.

Dean Yu Dapeng extended his most sincere welcome to all new employees in his opening speech. He emphasized that everyone is responsible for quantum computing, and hoped that everyone would give full play to their professional strengths in the warm family of the National Quantum Laboratory, grow together with the research institute, and jointly contribute to the development of China's quantum technology. Subsequently, he systematically introduced the national mission, development context, phased achievements and strategic planning of the National Quantum Laboratory as an important scientific research institution in Shenzhen. He stressed that the National Quantum Laboratory shoulders the important mission of gathering the advantageous forces of quantum technology in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, bringing together top international talents, and tackling key national strategic tasks in quantum technology.

Bai Zhiqiang, Chairman of the Labor Union and Administrative Vice President, gave a keynote speech titled "From Being a Person to Doing Things and Then to Being Oneself". He cited the example of Wang Jian, co-founder and chairman of BGI Group, who, at the age of 70, climbed Mount Everest to collect scientific research data on the adaptive physiological mechanisms of the human body in extremely high-altitude areas. Combining the actual situation of scientific research work, he guided new employees to think about how to improve their comprehensive literacy from the four aspects of "being able to think, write, speak, and act". He encouraged everyone to find their own position, stick to their original aspirations, and face the challenges on the road of scientific research with an attitude of effort, struggle, and persistence.

Researcher Xu Yuan, a 2025 Guangdong Provincial Model Worker, shared his experience in scientific research as a representative of senior employees. He reviewed the arduous struggle and continuous growth of the National Institute of Quantum Science and Technology (Guoliangyuan) that he had personally witnessed since joining it in 2019. He stated that every employee plays a crucial role in the cause of quantum scientific research, and he hopes that everyone can focus on the major strategic needs of the country, act as a screw in every key link, persevere in doing things carefully and well, implement them in place, and jointly promote the long-term development of the research institute.

To further enhance interaction and understanding, the training included a group discussion session for new employees. Researchers, engineering and technical personnel, and administrative staff held separate discussions, where everyone talked freely about their onboarding experiences, shared career plans, and exchanged work experiences, creating a lively atmosphere at the venue. Through these exchanges, new employees not only deepened their understanding of each other's professions but also strengthened team cohesion. This training successfully concluded in a warm atmosphere. After a day of enriching learning and communication, the new employees developed a deeper recognition of the mission and culture of the National Quantum Laboratory, and gained a clearer understanding of their future career development paths. They all expressed their expectation to work hand in hand with the National Quantum Laboratory in the promising field of quantum technology and contribute their youthful strength to building a strong socialist country in science and technology.
