The inaugural China "AI+New Materials" Conference, organized by the Chinese Materials Research Society (C-MRS), was grandly held in Nansha, Guangzhou, from April 9th to 12th. The event attracted over 50 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, more than 10 overseas academicians, and over 4,000 distinguished scholars, entrepreneurs, and investors in the field of "AI+New Materials".Concurrently, the "AI+Quantum Materials" Sub-forum, co-hosted by the Shenzhen International Quantum Academy(IQASZ), University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), and the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOP CAS), took place from April 11th to 12th.

On April 10th, Academician Yu Dapeng, President of the Shenzhen International Quantum Academy, was invited to deliver a keynote speech titled "Self-Reliance in Quantum Technology: Scientific Instruments Must Take the Lead." He shared insights on the current state of the quantum information industry and emphasized the critical importance of independent R&D of scientific instruments for the advancement of quantum technology and industrial development.

On April 11, Academician Yu Dapeng presided over the opening ceremony of the sub-forum and delivered a speech. He pointed out that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee proposed to comprehensively advance the empowerment of all industries by AI, and the 15th Five-Year Plan explicitly listed the quantum industry as the top priority among future industries. He noted that this forum, centered on "AI + Quantum Materials," serves as a vibrant practice to implement the "AI Plus" initiative and explore growth drivers for future industries. He expressed the hope that attendees would take this opportunity to fully communicate and discuss, jointly promoting development and innovation in the field.

The sub-forum attracted nearly 100 faculty members and students from universities and research institutes across the country. Sixteen scholars from prestigious institutions—including Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Fudan University, Institute of Physics (CAS), Renmin University of China, Tianjin University, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), Capital Normal University, Xidian University, and Qufu Normal University—delivered presentations on their latest research progress. The event sparked lively discussions among the attendees.
At this critical historical juncture of deepening technological revolution and industrial transformation, Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Technology stand as two core drivers, each spearheading a wave of technological innovation. The "AI + Quantum Materials" Sub-forum of the First "AI + New Materials" Conference has successfully established a platform to gather young talent and foster interdisciplinary integration. This initiative injects powerful new momentum into the convergence of quantum intelligence and the realization of high-level scientific and technological self-reliance.
