Shenzhen International Quantum Academy (hereinafter referred to as IQASZ) is located in the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone, Futian District, Shenzhen. Growing out of the first batch of ten basic research institutions in Shenzhen, IQASZ serves as the southern pillar of the national core strategic force in quantum science and technology. Aligned with China’s science and technology strategic layout, IQASZ focuses on quantum information technology as its core, dedicating itself to the research, development and industrial application of strategic emerging quantum information technologies, including quantum state manipulation and devices, quantum computing, quantum-limited sensing, and quantum engineering applications. It has successively built first-class scientific research platforms such as the superconducting quantum computing platform, silicon quantum dot quantum computing platform, ion trap quantum computing platform, quantum-limited sensing platform, and quantum device and quantum chip processing center.

To create favorable research conditions and an academic atmosphere, gather outstanding scholars, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and promote the output of high-level research achievements, IQASZ has specially established an open research project fund to support research projects of significant scientific value that align with the research directions of the Academy. The Guidelines for the 2025 Open Research Projects are now publicly issued, and researchers in relevant fields are sincerely invited to submit applications.

I. Funded Research Directions

See Annex 1 for details.

II. Eligible Applicants

1. Applicants shall be researchers from domestic and foreign institutions of higher learning, scientific research institutes, and enterprises and public institutions, engaging in fields related to the application scope. They must be the actual project leaders, holding a doctoral degree or a professional and technical title of intermediate level or above. Doctoral candidates applying for the project must be recommended by their supervisors. Applicants and project team members shall have the research capabilities and time commitment required for the implementation of the project. Applicants shall have a high academic standing and no record of improper research conduct.
2. The open research project fund mainly supports applications from researchers outside the host institution of IQASZ. The project team shall include at least one fixed researcher of IQASZ.
3. For the convenience of management and timely tracking of project progress, the proposed project leader shall designate or entrust a fixed researcher of IQASZ with a similar research direction as the project contact person.

III. Funding Plan

The 2025 open research project fund will support projects with a funding period of 1–2 years, and the funding intensity will be RMB 100,000–200,000 per project. The final number of funded projects and the total funding amount will be determined comprehensively based on factors such as the available funds of IQASZ, the number and quality of project applications.

IV. Application Materials, Application Process and Result Notification

1. Applicants should download the Application Form for Open Research Projects of Shenzhen International Quantum Academy (see Annex 2) and fill in the relevant information as required. Two hard copies of the application form shall be mailed to IQASZ by November 15, 2025, and the electronic versions (scanned copy with official seal and Word version) shall be sent to the contact email address. The file name should be formatted as: Guideline No. (e.g., Guideline 1) - Project Title - Applicant Name - Affiliation.
2. By December 1, 2025, IQASZ will organize experts to review the submitted application forms, approve the research project applications and determine the amount of fund support.

V. Project Implementation and Management

The open research projects shall be implemented and managed in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Measures for the Administration of Open Research Project Funds of Shenzhen International Quantum Academy (Trial) (see Annex 3).
