From June 26 to 28, the Open Day and National College Students Summer Camp of the Shenzhen International Quantum Academy (IQASZ) was held smoothly. More than 40 outstanding students from 28 domestic and foreign universities, including Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University and Columbia University, gathered together to start a three-day quantum science journey integrating cutting-edge scientific research exploration and urban cultural experience.

On the morning of June 26, the opening ceremony was grandly held in Lecture Hall 518 of IQASZ. Academician Yu Dapeng, President of IQASZ, delivered a warm opening speech, extending a hearty welcome to the students coming from afar, and systematically introducing the academy's development history, strategic positioning and future blueprint.
Subsequently, Researcher He Yu, Coordinator of the Quantum Computing Direction, Researcher Liu Junqiu, Coordinator of the Quantum Limit Sensing Direction, Researcher Lin Benchuan, Coordinator of the Quantum State Manipulation and Device Direction, and Researcher Zhang Zhensheng, Coordinator of the Quantum Engineering Application Direction, took the stage in turn to introduce the basic situation of the academy's four core research directions to the campers. Researcher Chen Tingyong, Vice President of IQASZ, hosted a fascinating interactive Q&A session on the research directions.
Researchers Xue Xiao, Xu Yuan and Chen Jilei delivered cutting-edge scientific and technological achievement reports, elaborating on the latest progress and breakthroughs in their respective research fields. These reports not only allowed the campers to appreciate the charm of quantum science, but also stimulated their strong interest and enthusiasm for quantum science research.
On the afternoon of the same day, under the guidance of Teachers Dong Yuanhao and Han Xudong, the campers were divided into groups to go deep into the "core scientific research area" of IQASZ — more than a dozen cutting-edge laboratories such as superconducting quantum computing and silicon-based quantum computing. They observed world-class scientific research facilities up close, communicated face-to-face with frontline scientific research teams, and personally experienced the scientific research environment of the academy.
Later, inspired by the thoughts and enthusiasm after the visit, the campers conducted in-depth conversations with their preferred supervisors. During the exchanges, the campers not only shared their own insights and perceptions, but also actively put forward many insightful questions to the supervisors. Drawing on their own scientific research experience and professional knowledge, the supervisors provided valuable guidance and suggestions for the campers.
On June 27, five outstanding seniors and sisters — Research Associate Qiu Jiawei, a 2024 doctoral graduate, Ni Zhongchu, a 2025 doctoral candidate, Chen Ruiyang, a 2025 master candidate, Ling Shan, a 2024 doctoral candidate, and Zhao Ruibo, a 2025 doctoral candidate — enthusiastically shared their academic and scientific research experiences and valuable lessons at IQASZ. Their sharing, which included both high-level academic perspectives and detailed life advice, depicted a real and charming picture of scientific research for the campers, stimulating their internal motivation to learn from the excellent and pursue excellence, and sowing the seeds for their possible further study or research in the future.
At the end of the summer camp, the campers felt the strong pulse of Shenzhen, an "innovation city", through a cultural study tour. They climbed Lianhuashan Park to pay homage to the bronze statue of Comrade Deng Xiaoping, and felt his foresight and courage at the origin of the reform that emphasized emancipating the mind and seeking truth from facts. They also traveled through 7,000 years of history at the Shenzhen Museum to appreciate the brilliant achievements of the special economic zone from the late Neolithic Age to the current reform and opening up, as well as the spiritual core of the "Shenzhen Speed". In addition, they visited the newly built Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum, where they personally experienced the surging momentum of Shenzhen's continuous leadership in cutting-edge fields driven by science and technology through interactive experiences and the interplay of light and shadow. A picture of Shenzhen that combines historical depth and future prospects unfolded slowly, conveying the endless innovative genes and striving spirit of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. It also encouraged the campers to bravely shoulder their missions, integrate the spirit of "daring to break new ground", the drive of "innovation" and the work style of "hard work" into their future study and growth, and write their own "Shenzhen stories" in their respective fields.
This summer camp was a high-quality academic exchange event carefully organized by IQASZ, integrating cutting-edge academic reports, laboratory visits, face-to-face meetings with supervisors, peer experience sharing and urban cultural tours. It fully demonstrated the strength of the academy's core team and the advantages of its top-tier scientific research platforms. It is hoped that this three-day journey will not only broaden the campers' scientific horizons and stimulate their interest in engaging in quantum technology, but also deeply implant the innovative and striving Shenzhen spirit in their hearts.
Farewell is not the end, but a promise of future reunion. IQASZ sincerely looks forward to meeting outstanding students again in Pengcheng Shenzhen, and jointly climbing the towering peaks of quantum science on this vibrant cradle of innovation in Shenzhen to write a magnificent new chapter in quantum technology.
